About
Im just a so called “young professional” that had absolutely no money management skills throughout college. However, one fateful day I was laid off from work. I had no extra money in savings, I had a mortgage to pay, a car payment, and basically nothing lined up. I quickly learned how to save money and became interested in personal finance. Now, fast forward 9 months. I had a new job, and was once again slipping into money wasting ways. I spent $1200 on going out in one month. Thats over $40/day. I decided to make a change, and write about it…and help others do the same.
Ive found that a lot of people coming out of college don’t have a lot of experience managing money outside of “do I have money in the bank or not.” (For most of my friends the answer is: not).
As I look around at blog sights I read, a lot of the “about me” sections are really pathetic. Who wants to read stuff by someone who they know nothing about? Well heres a little background on me.
I was born in Winnipeg Canada, where is really cold, and the mosquitos in the summer are like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. That being said, its a pretty nice city. My family moved to the US, Colorado to be exact when I was six and Ive been here ever since.
I love beer, bodybuilding (generally at odds with beer) watching and playing most sports, lots of music, politics, snowboarding, politics and a bunch of random stuff I won’t bore you with, except of course personal finance. The idea of writing a blog actually came to me while my girlfriend and I were at a free beer tasting.
Most ideas conceived this way are tossed away but luckily I decided to give it a go. Speaking of, if you are even in Fort Collins I highly recommend checking out the New Belgium brewery, beautiful place…and free beer.

That’s alot of money to spend on food and entertainment.

I dig your site–and I’m just like you!
Best of luck! Great blog!
Curious though…what do you consult on?
Nice picture of New Belgium. I love that company… and their beer. I was just up in Fort Collins last week meeting with a client. We had lunch at Coopersmiths Pub & Brewery. I live in south Denver, and thought I would say hi.
